As I explain in the article about the neopagan wheel of the year , the 8 sabbaths of the wheel of the year are the 8 seasonal holidays that appear within the cyclical calendar, and are often made resort to 8 festivals of continental Europe grouped by convention within the solar system.
although the etymological origin of the name of the 8 sabbaths is mainly of Celtic origin, (except for the Germanic yule), the root of the term Sabbath arises from the Italian vernacular as a crippling of the Hebrew term “shabbat” (Saturday).
Although many modern authors are inclined to theorize that the root of the name is “sabatre” historical sources attest that the term was used by Christian inquisitors as a derogatory term to identify all those holidays deemed heretical, using as an identifier the Sabbath of the Hebrew rite.
The first claims of this name can be found within the reference documents of the trials of the witches of the Tonale (mount near torino), and always in other letters of inquisition assignment , between the notes, it is defined as the term shabbat is used in a broad sense without placing a distinction between: pagans or Jews.
This is because in the light of the holy office heresy, although it can take infinite forms, it always remains an affront to the “true lux” of the Christ, therefore an act of nemesis towards Christ.
and who was it that in the Middle Ages was judged the worst enemy of Christ?
his own people!
therefore, every spiritual form, both pagan and apocryphal, was considered an attempt by the Jewish people to undermine the ecclesiastical authority and its institution.
this kind of superstition remains so much today that all alternative forms of Western spirituality, typical to gather in secluded living rooms, are accused of being “branch of the deviated Freemasonry” with the aim of “diverting man from the holy redemption” (?). Diverted Freemasonry piloted by the same zealots who killed the redeemer…
Of course this is only the sum of medieval and Renaissance superstitions, which have nothing to do with pagan memory, yet it is necessary to reflect as 2000 years of persecution and superstition, even today, despite martyrs among thinkers and despite the technological encyclopedia can influence and reshape what was the true history of the European people and its origins: paganism!
As I have reported in numerous articles, for example what is the wheel of the year or the wheel of the pagan year, I explain that the origins of the wheel are to be sought within the neopagan movements and not in the European historical memories, in fact although the inspirations of the Calendar system could come from the east, the first to use the wheel system and create it were: the wikka and the obod, which wanted to strongly draw inspiration from the forms of Italian witchcraft.
Thus the term Sabbath formerly laden with derogatory meanings, was extolled to the point of making it synonymous with sacred feast, also in memory of those who were accused and unjustly killed in European history.
